Laughter Yoga is a unique group activity where participants laugh without the need for jokes, comedy, or humor. Through guided laughter exercises, gentle breathing, and playful interaction, participants experience laughter in a fun and engaging way—regardless of mood or experience level.
Laughter is joyfully encouraged through full-body laughter exercises and playfulness. Before you know it, simulated laughter often becomes natural and contagious, creating an uplifting and energizing group experience.
Laughter Yoga is not a traditional yoga class. The “yoga” comes from simple breathing techniques incorporated after laughter exercises, and no yoga experience is required.

Developed in 1995 by Dr. Madan Kataria, Laughter Yoga combines intentional laughter exercises with breathing techniques to create an engaging and positive group experience now practiced around the world.

The Laugh With Patty - Laughter Yoga session includes simple breathing and stretching exercises, all done while seated in a chair or standing--no Yoga poses required!
No skills to learn--just pure fun! It's easy, and designed for everyone to participate comfortably from their very first session.
No mats, special clothing, or special footwear are needed! Just bring an open mind, a bottle of water, and your smile!

Since 2019, Patty has been a Certified Laughter Yoga Leader and a graduate of the internationally recognized Laughter Yoga University.
She facilitates Laughter Yoga sessions for participants of all ages, from young children to older adults, in local libraries, elementary schools, colleges, and universities throughout the Long Island, New York area.

Laughter has always been a part of Patty's life--beginning as the class clown in childhood, leading to a theatrical degree, and later a role in a traveling comedy troupe.

Patty's serious side led her to earn two master's degrees--one in education and another in rhetoric and performance studies.
When Patty isn't leading Laughter Yoga sessions or teaching as a university professor, she enjoys developing her voice acting skills or spending time outdoors at the beach or on the golf course.

"Hi! I’m Patty, and I’m excited to share my love of laughter with you. It’s amazing how even a simple chuckle can change the moment and bring people together. I’ve always believed laughter is a wonderful way to connect with ourselves and with others, and I’d love for you to experience that with me.
I’ve always enjoyed laughter and making others laugh. From a young age, I was known as the class clown, bringing smiles to people through playful humor and silliness. As an adult, that appreciation for laughter has only grown, and people often enjoy my quick wit and lighthearted sense of humor.
My journey into Laughter Yoga began after seeing a news segment about laughter-based group activities, and I was immediately intrigued. Since becoming a Certified Laughter Yoga Leader in 2019, I’ve enjoyed guiding people through fun, engaging sessions that encourage participation, playfulness, and shared laughter.
In my sessions, we explore laughter exercises and lighthearted activities combined with gentle breathing, creating a welcoming and enjoyable group experience where everyone can relax and enjoy the moment together.
When I’m not leading sessions, I teach communication studies at the university level. My background in communication has deepened my appreciation for how laughter brings people together and encourages connection. I also enjoy spending time outdoors—cycling, golfing, visiting the beach, gardening, or reading a good book in my backyard.
My goal is simple: to create a space where people can laugh, connect, and enjoy a positive shared experience. Every session is an opportunity to bring people together through laughter and participation.

I am proud to announce that through a competitive application process, Laugh With Patty was selected to participate in the Patchogue Arts Council’s PEACE Project — Partners in Education, Arts, & Community Empowerment.
The PEACE Project empowers educators and cultural partners in Long Island middle and high schools to make more equitable, socially just, and impactful use of the arts for underrepresented students. The goal: to reduce barriers and promote success for all students through College, Career, and Civic Readiness (CCCR) and Culturally Responsive-Sustaining education (CR-S).
This initiative is funded by an Assistance in Arts Education grant through the U.S. Department of Education and represents a powerful step toward creating inclusive, community-centered arts education on Long Island.
I am honored to bring laughter-based group experiences and creative engagement to this meaningful work in education.
